On January 31, Fashion in Business (FIB) hosted its third annual fashion show in the Union Ballroom.
Designers included old and new faces and what they brought to the stage was jaw-dropping.
Hookchute, @hook.chute
Brennah Strange is the face behind Hookchute. She describes her designs as a “fashionable, outdoor adventure brand.” As a returning designer– having been involved with FIB all three years– her line has just gotten better and better.
Consistency is another thing that Strange proves to be good at. In all the looks, each piece was colorful but also natural. This ties to her inspiration from skiing and other outdoor recreation activities.
Canyon Construct, @canyonconstruct
“Everyone should smile more, even if you’re a skater,” is Canyon Sargent’s slogan for his new clothing line.
Sargent’s style is a celebration of skaters and a diversity of personalities. This showed through a lot on stage as the models walked across the runway. His clothing represents the tagline “Smile More” and each piece looks comfortable; at the basis of what his message shares.
Shayla and Lucy, @shay.14mika
The partnership of Shayla and Lucy conveyed glamour and femininity at its core. With bows, tiaras and vibrant colors, every piece modeled on stage left my mouth agape.
Throughout the presentation, it felt as though they were inviting us to their tea party. Girly girls are not dead and Shayla and Lucy proved that.
Ethereal Archive, @_etherealarchive
“Sustainability is the top priority” for Ethereal Archive.
Kimberly Contreras Torres is the mind behind the beautiful looks we saw from Ethereal Archive. As the models walked across the stage, there was a sense of elegance and demure. Their work emphasizes the creative process and use of a diversity of mediums, making their line distinct from the rest.
Lamouramy, @lamour.amy
“Everything I design comes from what I love.” Lamouramy’s title is a combination of “lamour–” which is the French word for love– and the designer’s name, Amy Lam. I would be lying if I said the audience didn’t fall in love that night.
With a combination of pearls, gold, black and cream, Lam’s style has a film noir-esque touch to it. This adds to her appreciation of “the luxurious things in life.”
Maison de Bassaid, @mbas4877
In her femme fatale fashion-inspired clothing line, Maison instantly left a sense of anticipation in the crowd. She explained her initiative was to “bring back the couture feel of fashion.” I’d say with the use of props and luxurious style, she did just that.
Matta Perla Gowns, @matta.perla.studio
Matta Perla Gowns has unique looks that also have the element of sustainability.
Madolyn Talley’s work has been here before, and it’s such an honor to watch her grow. She understood the assignment, producing old Hollywood glamour looks. The presentation was cutesy couture bringing the wow factor up.
Anna Claire & Hiver Chic, @acdg_13 @hiver.chic
Anna Claire is another familiar face. Her rococo-inspired designs are fun whimsical and very girly. There is also a subtlety to detail with patterns and coloring to match her aesthetic. The entire presentation was serving prom vibes– an unexpected delight.
Hiver Chic collaborated with Anna Claire on the runway. Winter Chamberlain’s jewelry was an incredible addition to Ande’s designs. The mix of pearls and small samples of jewels added to the subtlety and attention to detail on the runway.
