The new superduo is here. Dominic Fike and Kevin Abstract just performed their first live show as “Geezer” at Tyler, the Creator’s Music Festival, Camp Flog Gnaw.
What’s Geezer?
In June of this year, Kevin Abstract dropped a surprise music video titled “KEVIN ABSTRACT & DOMINIC FIKE ARE GEEZER,” featuring their single “Geezer.” While no one really understood what that meant, we knew music was on the way. In the video, both of them sit in a car, taking turns, looking in the backseat and rapping. The artists have a long friendship history and have collaborated in the past on songs like “Peach” and “Crumble” (both featured on Abstract’s album “ARIZONA BABY“).
Abstract released his new album “Blush” this June as well, which featured Fike on multiple tracks. Ever since then, the cryptic posts and inside jokes on social media have made it clear they were working on something. After a couple of weeks of the album being released, they dropped the single “Doggy” under the artist name “Geezer.”

How?
Abstract and Fike’s friendship goes back a while when Abstract reached out to Fike after seeing his mugshot in 2018. Once he heard Fike’s music, he was blown away. This year, in an interview with Zach Sang, Abstract talked about how the two met at Flog Gnaw in 2018 and it was initially a bit awkward. Fike was quite quiet and Abstract took this as him not liking him.
The next year, Abstract put out a tweet saying how he wanted Fike on “ARIZONA BABY” and Fike responded by personally texting him and said, “You know you could just text me, why are you being dramatic.” This turned into him pulling up to the studio and helping create “Peach,” Abstract’s biggest song of his career. This was the beginning of a sincere and creative relationship. “I felt like he’s the right, creative collaborator for me, it just works,” said Abstract.
In the past, Fike has been mostly a solo artist, releasing five projects with little to no features. His willingness to collaborate on something big like this says a lot about his trust and love for Abstract. Abstract, on the other hand, brings experience as the founder of BROCKHAMPTON, an American hip-hop group active from 2010 to 2022. This group released eight studio albums, which achieved significant success. Now with “Geezer,” they have an opportunity to do something even more special.
Now what?
They had their first performance last Sunday at Camp Flog Gnaw, kicking the set off with Fike covering Commodores’ big hit, “Easy.” Both artists looked like they were exactly where they wanted to be, enjoying every moment. Mid-set, Fike expressed his respect and love for Abstract and said, “He’s the only artist I can spend long amounts of time with. He puts his career on the line. He makes music with me.” Fike ended his speech and called Abstract “one of his best friends.”
If Camp Flog Gnaw was Geezer’s soft launch into something bigger, we’re in for a surprise because this set was nothing less than amazing. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and while we can’t be sure if there will be more shows, when Abstract asked the audience if they wanted to see more Geezer, they erupted. So for now, we’ll just have to see the mystery unfold.
